Sofia Goggia: "In the end we are privileged"

Sofia Goggia took a final stock of her season at the Fisi Media Day at the Armani Hotel in Milan’Armani. The Bergamo-born skier dwelt on her growth after last season’s serious injury, and what awaits her in the next one, the Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
“For me, it was a very good season because I was able to express a very high level of skiing in all disciplines, there were maybe a few missed cents here and there that we lost on the track, but I expressed a solidity in every discipline and that was something that hasn”t happened to me in a long time.
“It’s been a beautiful season, taking into account the little training I was able to do. I ended up only putting my skis back on in November on one slope and one type of snow. Coming right back to win in Beaver Creek was crazy but a’double-edged sword, because it’s like it erased in everyone’s conception the fact that I was coming back from such a heavy injury”.
“Similarly, I have had ups and downs but expressing myself well in the giant gives me a lot of confidence for next season. I want to start from there to keep improving”.
Next season is the 15th season in the world cup: “I have become stable in the world cup for about ten years now, it is a joy to prepare well for next season especially after what happened last year’s season. It doesn’t weigh me down, there’s only to be thankful because the athlete’s life can be very hard, very harsh in many ways but in the end it”s always a life of privilege.
