Antonio Tiberi ready to imitate Vincenzo Nibali

A few days before the start of the Tour of The Alps, the race that since 2017 has picked up the baton of the Giro del Trentino, Antonio Tiberi launches his challenge to become the first Italian to win the final success: the success is missing to the Bel Paese since 2013, when the race still had the old name, and to win the general classification was Vincenzo Nibali.

“Again this year I will take part in the Tour of the Alps, the race that gave me morale and the right awareness in 2024 – explained the Bahrain-Victorious rider, white jersey at the Giro 2024 -. The difference is that this year I feel more ready and stronger: I will be at the start to win. The fraction that suits me best is the fourth. It is the queen stage, the decisive day. I have already circled it in red, on that day I will try everything, a bit like last year in Valsugana when I came very close”.

On the comparison with Nibali, Tiberi added: “Since I turned pro I have been associated with the image of Nibali, as his successor. For me this represents a pride but also a stimulus to get to his level, to try to be his successor also in terms of results”.

“We have similar characteristics, just as our approach to races is completely similar: like Vincenzo, I too consider the Tour of the Alps an indispensable appointment before the Giro d’Italia, because of the goodness of the routes and its location in the calendar” concluded Tiberi, who in this 2025 has not yet won a race but finished third at the Tirreno-Adriatico.
