Inter, Inzaghi forgets result in Monaco and reassures on Dimarco

Simone Inzaghi spoke in a press conference on the eve of the Champions League quarterfinal return leg between Inter and Bayern Munich. “I would say that more than tension there’is great pride – he began -, for how this season is developing. We know that tomorrow will be very difficult, we have to forget the result of the first leg but not the performance made in Munich. We played a great match, but we know the very high value of the opponent: we will have to play a great game, of running, of aggressiveness, of right attitudes. It is a quarterfinal, the first half was played in Munich and tomorrow we will have the second”.
“We know it is a tiring season– added the Nerazzurri coach -, however, playing every 3-4 days can help. This year there’s a new Champions League, both for us as a coach and for the players: it took away a lot of extra energy, just think of last year’s path. On November 8 we qualified in Salzburg, while this year we had to wait until January 29 with Monaco. With two months in advance last year we could only think of one goal, now there’s more fatigue but also great satisfaction, knowing that tomorrow there’s a very strong opponent, not in terms of payroll or budget, but in terms of principles of play”.
The team is a very strong opponent.
He then reassured on Dimarco and more: “Yesterday we had a short but intense training session. Dimarco was fine, Carlos was fine, as were Frattesi and Zalewski. We still have Dumfries and Zielinski out, as well as Correa who is not on the list. Kompany was a smart player, he is showing that as a coach as well: he has a lot of talented players, we will have to try to replicate the Munich game with technical prowess. We will have to try to keep the ball as much as possible and it will be even more difficult, because Bayern presses very well”.
“What should we do tomorrow? We don’t have to think about the result, but about the performance done. You don’t have to look at the record, which in Inter’s history with Bayern here at San Siro has not always been positive. The boys are positive, the team knows that we play against a great opponent: we respect them, but with the right attention we can have a great match”.
“Undoubtedly it was a first half done very well, but when you talk about a first and second half you have to be very careful. Had it been a final I would have told you something else. In Munich we did very well, to win there you have to be good and we are happy, but we know it was not a final unfortunately and we will have to play a great game against one of the strongest teams in the world along with Real” concluded Inzaghi.
