Alexander Zverev unlocks in Munich, first title in 2025

Alexander Zverev’s 2025 starts again in Munich, with his first title of the season. Defeated in the final of the last Australian Open, the German is now hoping to put three difficult months behind him thanks to today’s precious success on his 28th birthday. In the final of the BMW Open by Bitpanda (ATP 500 – prize money of 2,500,000), the ATP No. 3 won over No. 15 Ben Shelton with a score of 62 64, thus winning his third title in Munich (equaling compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber as the record holder) and the 24th overall of his career.
Today’s was the second final of the season between the top two seeds in a tournament since the Australian Open. As No. 1, Zverev approached the final by putting all his experience on the court, solving the problems posed by Shelton in an extremely smoother manner than in the only previous one last summer (in Cincinnati), when the Teutonic got the better of him 7-5 in the deciding set.
The Teutonic was able to win the final by a 7-5 margin.
Positive at the end of the match his balance between winners (13) and free (7), Too many instead the 21 errors of the American, able among other things to win just 4 points out of the 37 played against the opponent’s first. The Hamburg tennis player, for his part, also closed positively with his response on the second, finishing with a solid 11/18.
