Football says goodbye to one of the most romantic and surprising stories of recent years: Jamie Vardy, symbol and soul of Leicester City, has announced his farewell to the club after 13 unforgettable seasons. The English striker, who arrived in 2012 from Fleetwood Town for £1 million, has written a footballing fairy tale, rising from the minor league ranks to Premier League triumph and becoming a true icon of world soccer.

With 198 goals in 496 official appearances in a Foxes shirt, Vardy has left a deep mark on the club’s history. Not only for his goals, but for his grit, dedication and ability to drag the team along at key moments. The pinnacle of his career undoubtedly remains the historic 2015/16 season, when Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester resoundingly won the English league title. In that dream year, Vardy scored 24 goals and was one of the main architects of the feat.

No less important were the successes in the FA Cup (2021) and Community Shield, trophies that enriched a palmarès built with hard work, talent and spirit of sacrifice. Relegation to the Championship, which came just one season after a return to the Premier League, marked a breaking point. On May 18, against Ipswich Town, Vardy will play his last game at King Power Stadium.

The future remains uncertain: the 38-year-old striker has expressed a desire to continue playing, but has not yet clarified where he will continue his career. What is certain is that Jamie Vardy will never be just another footballer: he will forever remain a symbol of how passion and perseverance can make the impossible possible.
