Holger Rune forced to retire, Flavio Cobolli advances in Madrid

It’lasted about fifty minutes the match between Holger Rune and Flavio Cobolli at the Madrid Masters 1000. The Danish tennis player, in fact, after losing the first set 6-2 was forced to retire due to a right knee problem suffered in the middle stages of the first set.
After a balanced start to the match, the real watershed of the match was the fifth game, where Cobolli managed to hold serve and go up 3-2 in the score. At the same time, however, Rune, before returning serve is forced to call medical time-out for discomfort in his right knee.
After being bandaged, the Danish tennis player gritted his teeth by resuming play, but Cobolli was adept at taking advantage of his rival’s physical difficulties to post a run of four consecutive games, winning the first set 6-2.
At that point, Rune decided to retire with a view to the upcoming events, Internazionali d’Italia and Roland Garros above all.
In the third round, Flavio Cobolli will face the American Brandon Nakashima.
