L’Inter goes into crisis at the most important moment of the season: Inzaghi’s team suffers its third consecutive defeat in a week. After Bologna and Milan, the Italian champions go knockout at the San Siro against Roma 1-0 and remain stationary at 71 points: in the evening Napoli can move to +3 on the Biscione. Crucial victory for Roma, which rises to 60 points by pairing Bologna in fourth place.

The Nerazzurri were evidently suffering from the heavy knockout suffered in the Coppa Italia against AC Milan, and in the first half Simone Inzaghi’s team was unrecognizable, slow and confusing, almost afraid. The hosts also lost Pavard to injury after a quarter d’hour, in his place Bisseck. Roma collected at least four sharp chances, converting one of them: on 22′ Soulé burst into the area from the right and served Pellegini on the edge. After a few rebounds the ball goes back to the Argentine’s feet who pierces Sommer.

Ranieri’s Giallorossi after the lead have at least two huge chances to double, first with Cristante and then with Shomurodov, both inaccurate. Only at the end of the half did Inter give some timid signs of recovery.

Much nervousness in the second half, Inter goes under pressure but Roma does not give up attacking on the counterattack. Inzaghi inserted Dumfries and Zalewski, Barella had a great chance at 67′ but wasted from a good position. Roma also gobbled up a goal-ball with young Pisilli, who in front of Sommer kicked wide at 72′, and a minute later with Dovbyk, closed down by Acerbi at the last moment.

Finale of fire, Inter threw themselves forward in search of an equalizer, but found a tidy and not at all intimidated Roma. At 90′ the Nerazzurri vehemently protested a hold on Bisseck in the Giallorossi area, but the referee let it slide and whistled nothing. The defiant hosts fail to create anything more: it ends like that.
