Cagliari knocks out Verona and sees salvation

The Cagliari won the crucial direct clash with Verona and took a decisive step toward salvation. At the “Bentegodi” in fact, the Rossoblù bent with one goal per time the Scaligeri, who came out amid booing after the defeat.
In the first half, it was the hosts who got off to a better start without, however, creating any major danger from Caprile’s side. In the second half, it was still Cagliari that held the ball of the game, with Hellas Verona struggling to create any clear-cut scoring chances, even sparking discontent among their own fans.
Making the comeback even more difficult, in addition, was Ghilardi, who in the 87th minute ended his own match in the worst way by receiving a direct red for a disjointed entry on Gaetano.
In the midst of the recovery, Cagliari found the knockout blow with Deiola, who ended an excellent counterattack action in the best way.
With this victory, Cagliari climbs to 33 points, overtaking Verona in the standings, which is stuck at 31. Next round: Inter-Verona (Saturday, May 3, 8:45 p.m.), Cagliari-Udinese (Saturday, May 3, 3 p.m.).
