The bad moment continues for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. In fact, after the defeat in the first round at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, the Italian pair was also immediately eliminated from the ‘Mutua Madrid Open’ being played on the clay of the Caja Magica.

Bolelli/Vavassori, the fourth seed in the men’s doubles draw, surrendered to the British duo formed by Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury, who won with a final score of 6-2 4-6 10-8 after one’hour and thirty minutes of play.

An uphill start for the Italian duo who gave up the bat as early as in the third game (1-2). The British pair repeated the break lead in the seventh game (5-2) before closing out the first partial on serve (6-2).

The reaction of the Bolognese and the Turinese was not long in coming: thanks to a surgical break in the tenth game of the second set (6-4), the Italians dragged the challenge to the super tie-break, where, however, they were mocked by Skupski/Salisbury who won it 10-8.
