Angelo Binaghi’s broadside to Jannik Sinner’s detractors

This is how fedetennis president Angelo Binaghi commented on the discomfort expressed by Jannik Sinner over the attacks he received from other sportsmen, not just tennis players, over the Clostebol case: “The world is populated by jerks and envious people, and Sinner in recent months has noticed it”.
“This affair has served Sinner to realize how the world is populated by envious jerks; we have heard some in Italy expressing criticism of him as well. The fact of having been a great champion or a great champion – specified Binaghi at the microphones of Rai Radio1 Sport – does not make you exempt from these mechanisms, from these idiocies”.
“What happened will serve Sinner to mature. Until the Clostebol affair – continued Binaghi – he had taken his professional career as it should be for a passionate guy, that is, with a smile on his face, always wanting to have fun and joke around, available to everyone.”
What happened serves to make selection. The world of professional tennis is a cross-section of what our society is like: there’s a very high percentage of jerks who give opportunities to those who, like Jannik, are not.”

“There is also a great deal of ignorance – stressed the Federtennis No. 1 again -, those who speak out of turn evidently do not have the time, and sometimes not even the ability, to read pages and pages of regulations, rulings and reconstruction of the facts that happened. But basically who cares about these”.
“Nadal said it well, confirming himself as number 1 on the human level. He asked why we are still talking about the Sinner case, a good guy, innocent who even accepted an unfair disqualification, the case is completely closed. Nadal is right, now let the rackets speak” concluded Binaghi.
