Boxing: Canelo Alvarez wins and cashes first monster check

Last February, Canelo Alvarez signed a monster contract with the new boxing mogul, namely Turki Alalshik. On the night, at Riyadh’s Anb Arena, he fought the first of five agreed upon matches. Albeit with difficulty, Canelo Alvarez prevailed over William Scull.
.
By defeating the’hostile Cuban opponent, the 34-year-old Canelo Alvarez became, for the second time in his career, the undisputed super middleweight champion (Wba, Wbc, Wbo and Ibf). However, he did not appear as fluid and incisive as in the good old days, so much so that he won only on points (unanimous verdict).
“I don’t like to face this kind of fighter. They only came with the’idea of standing until the’last round. That is why I do not like to face them. It certainly won’t be like that next fight (against Terence Crawford, Sept. 12). I hate that kind of match. He moved even more than we thought he would. But that’s okay. We won. We are here”, the words of Canelo Alvarez himself reported by ESPN.
Although he did not shine, the Mexican boxer took home his first, hefty chunk of his contract with Turki Alalshik. Now he will have to contend with Terence Crawford, a boxer of a totally different stature, eager to prove himself superior to Canelo Alvarez.
