Jasmine Paolini returns to fifth world ranking

Minimal changes in tricolor key in the women’s world rankings released this morning by the WTA after the conclusion of the WTA 1000 in Madrid. Also this week there are three Italian women in the top 100. Tricolor leader always Jasmine Paolini who, thanks to the third round at the Caja Magica regains the fifth position bypassing Madison Keys: the 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca is now one step away from the “best”.
Stepping behind her is Lucia Bronzetti, number 58, while Elisabetta Cocciaretto, now number 82, takes five. She recovers two positions Lucrezia Stefanini, now number 148, while she loses three more Martina Trevisan, stopped in the pits due to an operation on her left foot, now number 160.

Slides back another twenty-three positions Sara Errani: the veteran Italian, in top ten doubles, is at number 177. Thanks to her victory in the $30,000 ITF in Santa Margherita di Pula, however, Nuria Brancaccio, now number 183, climbs seventeen, while Giorgia Pedone also gains eight places, rising to number 229. She loses as many as twenty-two positionsCamilla Rosatello, who drops to number 273, while Nicole Fossa Huergo, at number 276, also drops 12 rungs and closes the Italian top-ten.
