Alexander Zverev at a press conference in Rome for the Internazionali d’Italia returned to talk about the last few difficult months he has had: the German tennis player missed a chance to catch Jannik Sinner, who was suspended for three months for the Clostebol case, and went through a period that has dented his confidence. “I had two bad months and became the worst number two ever” he blurted out.

“It is true that before Munich my level was not exceptional, but there were reasons. I think the fact that I didn&#8217t take a break after Australia had an impact. I was exhausted” are the words reported by Tennisworlditalia.

“The media likes to denigrate players. I know I didn&#8217t play up to expectations, but it happened to Carlos and then he won Monte Carlo”.

Zverev lands in Rome with confidence: “It is always nice to come back to a place knowing you won the tournament. I really like Rome and I am confident. I hope I can play as well as I did last year. There are players in the top 10, I won’t mention names, who make me feel very comfortable; others less so. That’s the way it is. That’s why tennis is an interesting sport. The next two weeks represent my main goal”.
