Internazionali d'Italia, all the disappointment of Lorenzo Sonego

Lorenzo Sonego thus commented on his elimination in the first round at the Internazionali d’Italia against Argentina’s Roman Andres Burruchaga, son of Jorge Burruchaga, world champion in 1986 with the national soccer team led by Maradona and author of the decisive goal in the final against West Germany.
“I wasn’t able to express myself as I wanted to, certainly the tension and the desire to do well, I couldn’t handle it as I have done other times. I was more drained and that kills my tennis,” Sonego said.
“I didn“t feel good physically, with the right energy, and it can happen during the year that there are these moments– he added.
You have to work on that too, it means there’s margin. Now we look ahead”.
And then again: “Definitely my opponent was in better shape than me, he is a very solid player, he came from two good games so he was charged up. These players then have nothing to lose and can pull out better in certain matches”.
Sonego then talks about the disappointment of saying goodbye to Rome so soon. “It is a lot – he concludes – but you have to move on. This defeat can teach me a lot if we take it in the right direction. Now I will talk about it with my team and think about the doubles I will play here in Rome”.
