Jasmine Paolini continues to make Italian fans dream at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia. On the central court of the Foro Italico, the Tuscan tennis player overcame New Zealand’s Lulu Sun with authority, winning in two sets and earning a place in the third round, where she will face Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur. It was a match played with great determination by the Italian, who managed delicate moments well, confirming her excellent physical and mental form.

The first set showed a very centered Paolini from the start. After an authoritative start, topped by an immediate break and deep, precise strokes, Jasmine took a 4-1 lead. Sun tried to get back into the match with a counterbreak and a comeback up to 4-4, but the Italian player regained her lucidity in the final games and, thanks to a few errors by her opponent, closed the set on 6-4.

In the second partial, the’balance lasted a few more games. Paolini kept pushing, varying her game a lot and also showing a surprising propensity for the net. Despite a more combative Sun than in the first set, Jasmine managed to snatch the decisive break in the eighth game, taking it to 5-3. When it came time to serve for the match, the Italian kept her composure, closing without hesitation with a final score of 6-4, 6-3.

A solid and convincing performance for Paolini, who confirms herself among the most in-form Italian players of the moment. Now a much more complicated engagement awaits her against Tunisian Ons Jabeur, but Jasmine has shown she can play at this level, and the Roman public is ready to support her again.
