It took him a little more than 90 minutes Jannik Sinner to file Jesper De Jong and detach the pass for the round of 16 of the Internazionali d’Italia. Interviewed warmly by “Sky Sport Tennis” the world number one, among other topics discussed, dwelt on his next opponent, namely Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo.

“It&#8217s been a very different match than the first one, even as conditions. I started well, then I had a big drop in concentration, but that can happen. De Jong started playing better, but I got right back into the match, upping the intensity and regaining the break lead. The second set, however, was greatly affected by Jesper’s injury. I feel very sorry for him because he is a good guy and I hope it”s nothing serious” debuted the South Tyrolean.

“Every day is a new challenge. The last time here with Cerundolo I lost us. He had a crazy season, so I expect a very difficult match, where it will be crucial to raise the level if I want to play on par with him. These are the matches I need to see what level I’m at. It will be a good test. The most important thing will be to come down the field with the right attitude and a stronger and stronger mindset” added Jannik Sinner.

Against Francisco Cerundolo, the precedents are perfectly tied with two wins on each side. Adding to the toughness of this challenge, however, is the fact that the’last match between the two was won by the Argentine in the very round of 16 of the Internazionali d’Italia 2023 with a score of 6-7 6-2 6-2.
