Ferrari, Toto Wolff has no doubt about Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton’s adventure with Ferrari has not started in the best way. The British driver, only seventh in the Formula 1 drivers’ standings with 41 points, has struggled quite a bit in the first six Grands Prix of the season, while he has fared a bit better in the Sprints where he scored a win in China and a third place in Miami.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, in an interview with RacingNews365, went right back to the Shanghai success of the seven-time world champion: “I think we saw that magic in the Sprint race [in China]. He completely dominated that race. It’s not like you have magic in one race and then suddenly you lose it in the next one. I firmly believe that it”s still there.

“If he can align all the factors that affect his performance, if he is in the right frame of mind and if the car is the way he wants it, then he will be extraordinary. I have no doubt” added the Austrian executive.

“But I am also not surprised that there are these obstacles. He was with us for 12 years had his own way of working. Now he finds himself in Ferrari, where his teammate has been for a long time. And clearly, his teammate is one of the best. So as an outside observer and talking to him, that is the path that any new driver has to go through in a top team” Wolff concluded.
