Jannik Sinner immediately started again with a victory after the long forced hiatus due to the Clostebol case: the Italian tennis player got rid of Argentina’s Navone in two sets, and now he will face in Rome the Dutch Jesper De Jong, coming from the qualifiers.

There were those who expected a surprise after 3 months without competitions, but not Ivan Ljubicic: the former coach of Roger Federer puts his hand on the fire regarding the performance of the South Tyrolean. “There were no surprises. The match went exactly as we thought it would. Jannik was clearly stronger, but more importantly he was very polished” he told Sky.

The’former Croatian tennis player never saw a Sinner in trouble: “Of course he was not at his best, but he played his game and brought it home. He calmed down toward the end of the first set, when he realized that Navone had no means to impeach him”.

Jannik Sinner’s goal is to regain his match rhythm ahead of Roland Garros, scheduled from late May.
