Jesper De Jong challenges Jannik Sinner: "He' human, I will not be slaughtered"

Jannik Sinner starts on the right foot at the Internazionali d’Italia, his return tournament after the forced break due to the Clostebol case. At the Foro Italico, the acclaimed Azzurro folded Argentina’s Mariano Navone in two sets, sending a message to everyone: despite the stop, the world number one doesn’t look rusty at all.
In the third round of the Rome Masters 1000, the South Tyrolean tennis player will face Dutchman Jesper de Jong, who eliminated Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina with great ease.
24 years old, De Jong has already faced Sinner in the last Australian Open, where he was soundly defeated in three sets (6-2, 6-2, 6-2). De Jong is currently ranked No. 87 in the ATP rankings.
In great form, Jesper De Jong made some defiant statements ahead of the match against Sinner: “In the end, Jannik is still human and we all start from 0-0… I go down to the arena to win, not to get slaughtered as if we were at the Coliseum…”, he said wryly.
