From Melzo to Rome by bike: 640 km in 4 days, challenge completed

From May 1 to 4, a group of 13 brave cyclists, belonging to the associations Gomarasca Bike Club and La Veloce Melzo, accomplished a titanic feat by pedaling from Melzo to Rome. A 640-kilometer-long route with elevation gains that reached 2,000 meters.
The idea was born several months ago and gathered great enthusiasm among the members of the two associations, whose leaders then organized everything: route, overnight stay and support. Following the group was a support van, which provided the group with indispensable help. The bicycles returned to Melzo on the van, while the cyclists chose the train.
The athletes from the Gomarasca Bike Club and La Veloce Melzo arrived in Rome on days when the capital was overrun with faithful from all over the world to honor Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21.
An applaudable initiative, born of a passion for cycling and carried out with great commitment. The members of the expedition demonstrated unity, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved. They faced fatigue, kilometers and satisfaction together, participating in a feat they will hardly forget.
