Jannik Sinner is going to Pope Leo XIV. According to reports from Sky Sports, in fact, the world number one, who has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Internazionali d’Italia, will meet the new Pope at the Vatican.

The South Tyrolean champion will be accompanied by his family and a delegation from the FITP: his parents ’mom Siglinde and dad Hanspeter – and Federtennis President Angelo Binaghi will be present at the meeting with the Holy Father.

The new Pope is a great fan of tenns, which, as the Supertennis website writes, he has practiced frequently and himself considers himself an amateur player with few opportunities to practice since he left Peru in 2023 to become cardinal deacon of Santa Monica in Rome.

On Monday, Pope Leo XIV held his first meeting with the press in the Vatican&#8217s Paul VI Hall. The pontiff was pressed by a reporter about the possible organization of a charity tennis match: “Sure, that” the answer.

The reporter then relaunched: “I’ll bring Andre Agassi” but the pontiff was not caught off guard: “Just don’t bring Jannik Sinner”. The joke immediately went viral among fans of the number 1 ranked Atp and beyond.
