George Russell drastic on gap from McLaren

It’s been an all’seamless start to the season for George Russell, who, despite zero wins, has managed to make the most of the Mercedes’ potential, scoring four podiums in six races. Speaking on the media day on the eve of the Imola weekend, the British driver, among other topics, returned to the gap from McLaren.
“The team has not made any mistakes so far and so I have been able to capitalize on all the opportunities we have had. We have to keep our feet on the ground because I don’t think this is the race pace we are aiming for” began the Mercedes driver.
“After the Miami Grand Prix we decided to bring big changes to Barcelona with the flexible wings. We cannot catch McLaren unless they take a step back. If nothing changes after Spain they will continue to win and we will have to worry” added number 63.
“I think the changes should never have happened, we are talking about a situation where things have turned around, because at the beginning they were a bit’ridiculous. We are happy to see things go back to the way they should be but it is a strange situation and we have had no response from any of the FIA leadership. We drivers have expressed our opinions, all we ask is to be heard” concluded George Russell.
