Here are the statements of the winner of the sixth stage of the Potenza-Naples Giro d’Italia, Alpecin-Deceunink’s Australian Kaden Groves, and of the pink jersey, Lidl-Trek’s Dane Mads Pedersen, released after the arrival in the Campania capital.

Kaden Groves: “Today’s win is a liberation for me. I was held back by some physical troubles early in the season but fortunately I recovered for the Giro. It was a chaotic stage, I just hope everyone involved in the crash is okay starting with my teammate Hollmann.”

“He had worked so hard to be at the top, I dedicate the success to him. I was lucky to avoid the crash, which is why I decided to always stay in front in the last kilometers. Maybe it&#8217s not ideal for the legs, however, it allowed me to better control the situation”.

Mads Pedrsen: “It is never good to fall downhill. I feel pain in my right side, had I been okay I would have liked to play my cards in a sprint like that. There was no reason to take risks, also because from here to Rome there are still many opportunities.”

“I think the decision to neutralize the race was the best one. Most likely tomorrow will be my last day in the Maglia Rosa, it was a great adventure and an honor to wear it for so many days. It made the’beginning of the Giro memorable for me and for my team”.
