Lorenzo Musetti blows everyone away on the confrontation between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

Although fighting for two hours and managing to take the second set to the tie-break, Lorenzo Musetti had to raise the white flag against Carlos Alcaraz, nevertheless confirming his excellent moment after the final he reached in Monte Carlo (in which he was defeated by the Murcian himself) and the semifinal in Miami, which saw him surrender to Jack Draper.
In the press conference, Musetti wanted to emphasize the qualities of Alcaraz, with a clear statement regarding the comparison between the’current number 3 in the world and Jannik Sinner: “Carlos is a phenomenon, sometimes he is criticized too much, unnecessarily. Looking at the numbers, actually, there’s little to criticize. He has few weaknesses, he may not have a devastating serve but he is a complete player and he is working on mental toughness: when he is at the top, on clay he is stronger even than Sinner”.
“Today was a tough day for me – explained Musetti talking about the match on Friday afternoon -. I started well but then I lost a little bit’ of lucidity, some negative aspects of my game emerged and I have to say that I was not able to express my best tennis. I feel very disappointed, for me today’s is a missed opportunity”.
The next goal is Roland Garros, where Musetti wants to improve on his best result, the fourth round, achieved in 2021 and 2023: “I also learned a lot from this defeat– said the Carrara-based tennis player. I don’t want to focus on the negative aspects but on the good moment of form in general: it will be played at the best of five sets, it is a formula that I like because it rewards physical endurance, as well as the quality of the game”.
