Lorenzo Musetti’s dream is shattered in the semifinals at the Internazionali d’Italia against world number two Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard overcame the Italian with a score of 6-3, 7-6 in a really complicated match for the Carrara-based tennis player. Musetti missed a lot, really too much. The Spaniard now awaits his opponent, who will be the winner of the match between Jannik Sinner and Tommy Paul.

Carlos Alcaraz gets off to a rocket start in his match against Lorenzo Musetti, valid for the Internazionali d’Italia. From the very first game of the first set, the Spaniard shows that he wants to impose his own rhythm, immediately snatching service from the Italian. Musetti tries to react right away, winning three break points in the second game, but Alcaraz proves to be glacial: from 0-40 he recovers with authority and takes a 2-0 lead. The Italian struggles to find the feeling with his strokes, commits free errors and seems lost. The Spaniard took advantage of this to go up to 4-1, routing the set.

Musetti in the second partial entered the court in a different mood, more determined, and immediately got three break points. After seeing the first two slip away, he manages to break serve on the third. But Alcaraz reacts promptly and counter-breaks. The Spaniard then accuses a moment of blackout, and Lorenzo takes advantage of it: he breaks him again and consolidates the lead taking it to 3-1. The Foro Italico audience is fired up, strongly supporting the home favorite.

In the seventh game Alcaraz becomes dominant again, goes up a level and with spectacular shots regains parity: 4-4. It comes down to 6-5 for the world number two, who wins a match point, cancelled by Musetti with a breathtaking forehand. The set is decided in the tie-break. Few chances in the tie-break for the Italian, Alcaraz flies to the final.
