This is how Coco Gauff commented on her defeat in the final against Jasmine Paolini at the Internazionali d’Italia: “I am proud of these two finals, but I am also disappointed with the defeats. Paolini played a great final today, when she is confident it is difficult to face her on clay and she is ready to play with the top two in the world.”

“I would have to play my best tennis to beat her and I couldn’t. However, I am satisfied with how I arrive in Paris for Roland Garros, I know I can make it to the final. Jasmine played a great match, I think it was one of the best matches of her career and she clearly deserved it.”

The audience was extremely polite, I knew perfectly well what I was going to experience today, but it definitely did not affect the way I played. The audience helps Italian players a lot, but I hope I still have the chance to play a final here.”

“Paolini and Sinner have done a great job in improving their game, especially Jasmine I remember facing her in Adelaide and she was much more passive. Jannik is one of the strongest players in the world, certainly there&#8217s important work by the Federation but speaking specifically about Jannik I think we are talking about a generational talent”.
