European team championships, world record for Massimo Stano and double gold for Italy

Maximus Stano’s feat in Podebrady (Czech Republic): he triumphed at the European team championships by setting the world record in the 35 km march in 2h20:43. He shattered by nearly a minute the previous record set by Canadian Evan Dunfee in March (2h21:40).

In addition to Stano&#8217s world record victory in the 35 km, Italy also won the team gold medal thanks to Riccardo Orsoni&#8217s fourth place (2h26:09 PB) and Matteo Giupponi&#8217s ninth (2h28:57).

For the women there&#8217s also a team gold medal: Italy led by Antonella Palmisano, in second place individually with an Italian record of 2h39:35 in her debut in the specialty, third place by Nicole Colombi (2h41:47 PB) and fifth place by Federica Curiazzi (2h45.39).
