Andrea Kimi Antonelli wants to take advantage of the Monte Carlo weekend to put Imola, his first Grand Prix “home” since arriving in Formula 1, behind him, which, however, turned into a caring disappointment. However, the very young Mercedes driver explained what went wrong at the Emilian track, assuring that the whole thing will not be repeated in Monaco.

“I didn’t handle Imola in the best way, especially in terms of the energy I spent – explained Antonelli -It was my first home race, and there was really a lot of meat on the fire. However, I think I didn’t do a good job, and I could tell behind the wheel. I had the feeling that I wasn’t as psychologically present as I usually am. I didn&#8217t have anything else on my mind, but I was definitely mentally tired”.

“I consider it an extremely disappointing weekend, but at the same time I learned an important lesson. I will definitely treasure it when we go to Monza, but in general I will do so in all the next races – promised Antonelli -I have to manage my energies better, so that I can bring the performance I want on the track”.

The’goal is therefore to restart among the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, perhaps returning to the front row. “In the qualifying sessions I always managed to have a positive approach. This was particularly the case in Miami, and the results showed. I will face the next events with that’approach, which then is what I have always tried to have. I will dedicate all my time to prepare each session in the best possible way, so that I can give my best on the track”, Antonelli concluded.
