In Geneva, Novak Djokovic wins his 100th career tournament

Novak Djokovic finally wins the 100th tournament of his career, which he has been chasing since his Paris 2024 Olympic triumph last August. On clay at the ATP 250 in Geneva, the former tennis king defeated world number 31 Hubert Hurkacz of Poland by a score of 5-7 7-6 7-6 in just over three hours of play.

The first to save break points in the first set was Hurkacz, two consecutive at 2-2, but then he made the decisive break in the 12th game, a break that also gave him the set on the first useful ball after Djokovic had a tie-break ball.

Hurkacz also saves a break ball in the first game of the second set. There are no more until the tie-break, literally dominated by the former world No. 1, who wins it 7-2. The Serb, however, loses the serve in the first game of the deciding partial. Hurkacz holds the lead until 4-2 and then gets a comeback at 4-4.

Then it goes to another tie-break and this one too is dominated by Djokovic, who also wins this one 7-2 and goes into triple digits in tournaments won on the major circuit, the third highest ever after Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103). Despite his success in this tournament Nole remains world No. 6, Hurkacz rises to 28 but is far from his best ranking, No. 6.
