Pecco Bagnaia is not celebrating third place in qualifying for the British Grand Prix, not even after finally finishing ahead of teammate Marc Marquez, who was surprisingly left off the front row.

“We gave it our all,” the three-time world champion told Sky Sport Italia’s microphones, “but we also have limitations with the front, we can’t push and there’s a risk of it closing on all sides”.

“The front row remains a good result, but we have to try to take advantage of the afternoon to see if we can actually close the gap with Alex who is making a difference.”

Comment on tires: “For the Sprint we will use soft in the back, so it will be important to push right away because the consumption will be felt. Tomorrow, on the other hand, we still have to figure out what to choose.”
