Moto2 Silverstone: first joy for Senna Agius, Celestino Vietti comes close to top 5

Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) took the win in the British Grand Prix of the Moto2 class: the young Australian centaur thus centered his first ever victory in the MotoGP, anticipating Brazilian Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team) and Colombian David Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota Aspar Team) at the finish line.
World leader Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez (Agius’ teammate) did not finish the race, retiring for the first time this season. Aron Canet (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego), fourth at the finish in Silverstone, did not take full advantage of this, which only brought him closer in the overall standings, with 108 points to his compatriot’s 111.
The first of the Italians in the GP was Celestino Vietti (Team HDR Heidrun), who finished sixth. As for the other del Bel Paese rider on the grid, Tony Arbolino (Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha Moto2), the Garbagnate native finished 14th, taking home two rainbow points in a sprint after starting the last lap outside the points zone.
The first Italian on the grid today was Tony Arbolino (Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha Moto2), who finished 14th.
Today’s day was in its own way historic for Moto2: for the first time ever, in fact, no European rider made the podium. Agius is the 57th winner in the class, a milestone achieved 15 days after his 20th birthday. The Australian rider led his country to success for the first time since the 2021 Gp dell’Algarve, won by Remy Gardner.
