With the qualifying rounds closed, the 2025 edition of Roland Garros, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season and the only one, among the four on the calendar, to be played on clay, finally comes into full swing. The day of Sunday, May 25, will see six athletes from the Bel Paese, four men and two women, in action, as scheduled.

As for the men’s singles draw, it starts no earlier than 2:30 p.m. with Matteo Gigante engaged against Lebanese Benjamin Hassan and Luca Nardi grappling with Fabian Maroszan, in his second match against an Italian tennis player after facing Matteo Arnaldi in Geneva, taking a loss in two sets.

Not before 3 p.m., on the other hand, it will be the turn of Lorenzo Musetti, number 8 in the world, who will face number 137 Yannick Hanfmann, a German tennis player coming from the qualifiers, where he defeated Buse, Martineau and Droguet. In the evening, not before 8:15 p.m., it will finally be the turn of Lorenzo Sonego, engaged with a not easy opponent, the American Ben Shelton (No. 13 ATP).

As for the women, the first Italian representative in chronological order will be Lucrezia Stefanini, No. 153 WTA, engaged against the Swiss Jil Teichmann (No.98). In the afternoon (it won&#8217t start before 4:30 p.m. anyway) Jasmine Paolini, highly anticipated after her triumph in Rome, will take the court instead: the world number 4 will play against China&#8217s Yuan Yue, an athlete not to be underestimated given that not more than a month ago she won the ITF tournament in Oeiras, Portugal.
