Cars on crowd, Liverpool and Premier League break silence

Liverpool and the world are in shock at what happened on the city streets on Monday at 6 p.m. local time, equivalent to 7 p.m. Italian time. A’car did in fact overrun people who had rushed downtown to celebrate the league victory by the Reds. The same club, along with the Premier League, commented officially on the’chilling event.

“We are in direct contact with the Merseyside Police regarding the incident at Water Street that occurred towards the end of the trophy parade in the evening. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this serious incident. We will continue to provide our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident” reads a statement issued by Liverpool.

“Everyone in the Premier League is shocked by the terrible events in Liverpool this evening, and our heartfelt thoughts go out to all those injured and involved. We are in contact with Liverpool, and have offered our full support in the wake of this serious incident” say the official channels of the English top league instead.

Liverpool police have detained a man’aged 53, British. Law enforcement investigations are under way to determine what happened on an evening that was supposed to be festive and turned into a nightmare for the British city.

The police are investigating the incident.
