Unfortunate inconvenience for Naples after visit to Pope

On Tuesday, Italy&#8217s champion Napoli paid a visit to the Pope. The Azzurri team arrived in Rome late in the morning but the meeting with the Pontiff, scheduled for 11:15 a.m. in the Sala Clementina, took place a few minutes late. The’audience then went on longer than expected and Napoli missed the train that was supposed to take the team and staff back to Campania.

Pope Leo XIV also paid tribute to the champions of Italy with a joke: “Compliments also from a lady who is making food for me these days and who is from Naples and says, ‘Best wishes!’. She would like to be here too, she, Mrs. Rosa, very supportive!”.

On Monday, Napoli celebrated in the city with a splendid parade attended by more than 200,000 fans. The players walked along the waterfront in uncovered buses and were able to receive the affection of the Neapolitan people after winning their fourth Scudetto.
