After triumphing at the Internazionali d’Italia, the Italian women&#8217s doubles golden couple composed of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini are aiming for an even bigger target, that Roland Garros that escaped, in the 2024 edition, at the final act that saw Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova prevail. Paris, however, evokes sweet memories for the two blue ladies, who in the French capital itself graduated as Olympic champions.

The debut in the women’s doubles tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, against Belarus’s Viktoria Azarenka and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe: for the time, it will first have to wait for the end of the singles draw match that will see Jasmine Paolini engaged (not before 12 p.m.) against Ajla Tomljanovic, but in any case the four athletes will not be able to face each other before 2 p.m.

Errani and Paolini are aiming to win their eighth doubles title since they have been a steady pair on the court: the two champions won together the WTA 250 in Monastir in 2023, the WTA 500 in Linz, the Internazionali d’Italia, the Paris Olympic tournament and the WTA 1000 in Beijing in 2024, the WTA 1000 in Doha and again the Internazionali d’Italia in 2025.

As for opponents, Viktoria Azarenka has won 10 titles in doubles and 3 in mixed doubles, and there are also 10 doubles titles won by Erin Routliffe, who represented Canada until 2017 before choosing a New Zealand nationality. The two, however, have never won a doubles tournament together.
