After Tottenham won the Europa League and the the’upcoming Champions League final with Inter Milan and PSG engaged, today, in Wroclaw, Poland, the Conference League is awarded.

Chelsea and Real Betis (the Iberian team eliminated, in the semifinals, Fiorentina) will be playing each other. On paper, the odds-on favorites are for the Blues who, by winning the trophy, would make history. By winning the Conference League, Maresca’s team would become the first European club to have won all five club events: the Champions League, Europa League, European Super Cup, the defunct Cup Winners’ Cup and, indeed, the Conference League.

A true record, never achieved by any other club in Europe. To do so, they will have to get the better of a Real Betis side that has shown so much quality. The presence on the bench of a veteran like Pellegrini (“maestro” of Maresca), has made the Spanish team even more fearsome.

Chelsea, a team with a very young average age, just won a pass to the next Champions League right at the photo finish. Now it wants to give itself a trophy that, even for Maresca, would mean a lot: “It has been a good season, but it can be great if we can win the Conference League. It would be a way to say that we are back and that we are a winning club in Europe” Maresca’s own words.
