Italy, Luciano Spalletti forced to make a change among goalkeepers

Because of the unexpected unavailability of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has summoned Marco Carnesecchi for the meeting scheduled for Saturday, May 31, which will precede the national team’s two commitments against Norway and Moldova, valid as World Cup 2026 qualifying matches.
Recent winner of the Europa League with Tottenham, Vicario has been suffering from physical problems, the FIGC announced, and so the coach is relying on the Atalanta goalkeeper, who returns to the list of summoned players a year and three months later, after having been part of the March 2024 U.S. tour coinciding with friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador.
