Giro d’Italia 2025: after stage 19, Del Toro stays in pink and stretches: Carapaz and Yates chase

The nineteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2025 confirmed expectations. A queen day in the Aosta Valley mountains that wrote an important page of the pink race. Between Col Tzecore, Saint-Pantaléon and the Col de Joux, the big boys put on a show, but it was once again Isaac Del Toro who came out with the pink jersey increasingly firmly on his shoulders. The young Mexican of UAE Team Emirates coolly controlled along with his team, neutralizing every attack and finishing in second place behind the day’s winner, Frenchman Prodhomme.
Del Toro gained more seconds on his rivals and increased his lead to 43 seconds over Richard Carapaz, who tried to sprint in the finale but failed to break away from the Mexican. Third place for Simon Yates, who held on but now pays 1 minute 21 seconds from the top.
Derek Gee’s performance was also excellent, always steady and now fourth at 2’32”, ahead of Damiano Caruso, who confirmed his regularity and reliability, fifth at 3’36”. More detached Egan Bernal, sixth at 5’13”, followed by Giulio Pellizzari, the best Italian, who continues to impress on the climb and is seventh at 5’46”.
Completing the top ten are Einer Rubio (eighth at 6’39”), Michael Storer (ninth at 9’11”) and Brandon McNulty, tenth at 9’33”.
The standings are beginning to emerge more clearly, but with only one decisive stage left before Rome, anything is still possible.
