Midfield strike for Genoa: Stanciu, captain of Romania, arrives

Genoa is placing an experienced coup for its midfield. As of July 1, 2025, Nicolae Stanciu will officially be a new Rossoblù player. The Romanian midfielder, currently unemployed after his experience in Saudi Arabia with Damac, arrives on a zero-parameter basis and is preparing for a new adventure in Serie A.
A class of 1993, Stanciu brings with him an outstanding technical and international background. Captain of the Romanian senior national team, with which he has played 81 matches and scored 15 goals, he has built a solid and successful career between Romania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, China and, most recently, Saudi Arabia. He boasts an impressive 545 official appearances and 108 goals between championships, cups and European competitions. His list of honors includes 14 titles won with prestigious jerseys such as those of Anderlecht, Slavia Prague and Sparta Prague.
Genoa made his arrival official through a statement highlighting the player’s qualities and the prestige of the graft: “Genoa CFC announces that as of July 1 Nicolae Stanciu will be a new Rossoblù player. He was named Romanian Footballer of the Year in 2022,” reads the club’s note.
For the Ligurian team, led by Patrick Vieira, this is a targeted reinforcement to raise the technical rate and experience of the middle section, ahead of next season.
