Carlo Calcagni triumphs in Paris on Republic Day

On the day of the Italian Republic Day, Colonel Carlo Calcagni wins the International Grand Prix of France, taking the Tricolor to the top step of the podium. A triumph that goes beyond sports and is charged with profound meanings, on a day when Italy celebrates its unity, its democracy and its founding values.
A success that also has an institutional value, because Calcagni officially competed under the colors of the Defense Paralympic Sports Group, proudly representing the Ministry of Defense and with it all those who have chosen to serve the Homeland.
“Winning today, just as we are celebrating our Tricolor, is an immense honor for me – said Calcagni -That flag that represents my country, my history, my daily struggle, but above all the values I try to spread in every moment of my life: loyalty, brotherhood, respect, unity, inclusion, resilience, determination, sacrifice, spirit of service and sense of duty”.
“A living testimony of strength – reads the note issued from Paris -, discipline and love of country, Carlo Calcagni continues to represent Italy and its ideals in the world, despite suffering, illness, and – even more bitterly – the indifference of the institutions toward those who have served the state to the point of sacrificing their very existence”.
“In his sporting and human commitment, Carlo Calcagni embodies every day the most authentic meaning of being Italian, remaining faithful to those principles that have guided him in every battle, in and out of uniform. Never give up, despite everything and everyone, whatever the cost” the note concludes.
