Alexander Bublik is pawing ahead of his confrontation at Roland Garros with world number one Jannik Sinner. The Kazakh tennis player has faced the Blue four times in his career, winning only on one occasion in Halle in 2023, when the San Candido athlete retired in the second set. There is a good relationship between the two.

Bublik recalled a funny episode that occurred at the end of the match he lost to a 19-year-old Sinner in Miami in 2021, when he called him “not human”. He was one of the first on the circuit to recognize the absolute strength of the Blue, who was then climbing the ATP rankings.

“Jannik came on the Tour when I was 21, I was top 50. He beat me the first time in Dubai in three sets. Then the next week we met in the quarterfinals in Miami, and I had told him that he could not play so well being so young, that he was not human…” recalled Bublik.

Jannik’s first match on the Tour was in the top 50.

“Since then we have a nice relationship: we are professionals, we are not from the same country and we do not speak the same language, but we have a nice relationship. He is a generous guy. We hope it will be a good match”, concluded the Kazakh.
