When Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori play mixed doubles at Roland Garros: the schedule

After winning the U.S. Open in 2024 and the Indian Wells tournament this season, Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are dreaming of another mixed doubles breakthrough, this time at Roland Garros. The Italian pair will take the court in the semifinals against that formed by Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo, athletes from China and El Salvador, on Wednesday, June 4.
Subject to last-minute changes in time, the match will begin at 11 a.m. Errani and Vavassori qualified for the penultimate act of the competition by taking advantage of the quarterfinal forfeit of the pair consisting of Olivia Nicholls and Henry Patten, while Zhang and Arevalo overcame Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and Britain’s Lloyd Glasspool 6-3, 6-2.
Wednesday’s match is a match of great importance, in particular, for Sara Errani, who is looking for her seventh slam title in Paris at the doubles level: in fact, she has won, together with Roberta Vinci, twice in the women’s doubles in Australia (2013 and 2014) and once in Roland Garros (2012), US Open (2012) and Wimbledon (2014), while in the mixed doubles she won in 2024 just with Andrea Vavassori.
The Turin native, born in 1995, on the other hand, is looking for his first Parisian title and a rematch precisely against Arevalo: in 2024, in fact, his dream of winning Roland Garros in the men’s doubles (together with Simone Bolelli) was shattered against the Salvadoran athlete himself, who together with Mate Pavic won the slam on clay by winning 7-5, 6-3.
