Carlo Calcagni, new world record in 400 meters category T72

Carlo Calcagni accomplished another feat. At the International Grand Prix of France, in the final race of the 400 meters category T72, the Colonel of the Role d’Honor of the Italian Army and Paralympic champion in fact improved the world record he set a few weeks ago in Marrakesh, in the International Grand Prix of Morocco. The new record is now 59”43, or three seconds better than the previous one.
“I dedicate it to the most fragile people, the weakest, the last, those forgotten, precisely by institutions– the statement reads -Because through my victories they are able to rejoice and hope again”.
“There’s no victory that has value if it is not shared. That is why I always say that my victories are everyone’s victories. While the chronometer speaks clearly, the institutions are silent – one always reads in the statement – A shameful, deafening, insulting silence. Where are the representatives of the state now? Where are those who would have the moral and human duty to support a man who served his country with honor and who today, hit by friendly fire, continues to give lessons in courage, determination and dignity? Those who remain silent are accomplices. Those who look the other way are part of the problem. Those who ignore are just as responsible as the shooter”.
“One cannot talk about sports, about inclusion, about values, while ignoring those who are the purest embodiment of them. I have only one fault: to have done my duty. To have believed in the state. But I will continue to fight, whatever it takes. Because never give up is not just a motto. It is my life” ends the note.
