Fabregas closes doors to Inter Milan: “I really believe in the Como project”

The future of Inter’s bench is still to be written. In the last few hours, Cesc Fabregas’ candidacy has suffered a significant setback, abetted by words from the Spaniard himself and from Como president Mirwan Suwarso. Both have made it clear how the former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder is not intent on abandoning the ambitious project started in Lake Lombardy.
Fabregas expressed his strong bond with Como, where he has embarked on a coaching path in line with his aspirations: “I don’t want to end my career at a club with a short-term project. Here I can work the way I want, with a shared vision and common goals. The president allows me to express myself as I want, and I feel we are building something important, even though we are a small club.”
Words that sound like a closure to the Nerazzurri court, but Inter has no intention of giving up. Sporting director Piero Ausilio flew to London to meet with Fabregas’ entourage and try to turn around a situation that seems unfavorable. The mission is difficult but not impossible: the appeal of a club like Inter, orphaned by Inzaghi, and with a solid management structure, could be a strong temptation, even for a coach still at the beginning of his career.
In the meantime, the alternatives represented by Cristian Chivu and Patrick Vieira remain standing. The former is already well established in the Nerazzurri’s technical cadre, having coached the Nerazzurri youth teams, while the latter represents an option of international prestige. However, the focus still remains on Fabregas. Inter is ready to play all its cards: London could be the decisive theater of a coup.
