Not making it Matteo Gabbia. After sustaining an injury to his right calf in Tuesday’s training session, the AC Milan central defender left the national team’s training camp. In his place, coach Luciano Spalletti has called up Daniele Rugani.

The Juventus-owned defender, who played last season on loan at Ajax, returns to wear the Azzurri shirt after seven years: in fact, his last appearance with Italy was on June 4, 2018. Rugani will join the rest of the group in the afternoon.

It will still be an emergency defense for Spalletti with Norway: in addition to Gabbia, the Tuscan coach will also have to do without Buongiono, Calafiori and Acerbi, who declined a call-up. In addition, Di Lorenzo has been working separately but will grit his teeth with the Norwegians.

Italy will face Norway on Friday, June 6, at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo in the match valid for the third day of Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. It will be the Azzurri’s debut in the group, while the hosts are first with 2 wins in the first two days.
