Jannik Sinner, the'former world number one bashful: "I wouldn" know what to do"

Jannik Sinner continues his unstoppable run at Roland Garros: the Italian qualified to the semifinals without losing a single set in the Paris tournament. It’s the second consecutive French Open semifinal for the South Tyrolean, who will return to the court Friday against either Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev. One of his early admirers and former world number one, Mats Wilander, in an interview with Eurosport expressed all his amazement at what Jannik is doing: “Can I say I am speechless? Because it is incredible”.
“He doesn“t wait for the ball to go anywhere, he wants to get it as soon as possible on both sides, especially on the backhand. I have never seen anyone so aggressive from the backcourt. And he also wants to get ahead, which I love”.
“How would I play against him? I don’t know–I wonder what would Roger Federer do? He would hit slice, keeping the ball low, and maybe hit a high ball. What about Rafa? I’m not sure. I would try to wear him down, I guess, but he’s playing incredibly well. His movements, he flies across the court. To me, he is like Spiderman”.
Only Alcaraz, according to Wilander, can beat him: “I think varying the pace is the’only chance to beat him. Change the pace now and then, but you have to do it at the right time and you cannot hit him when you are defending. You have to hit when you control the exchange, which happens very rarely”.
