Yamal and Spain take down France: resounding five in Nations League

Spain qualifies for the Nations League final thanks to an impressive display of strength against runner-up France, beaten 5-4 in Stuttgart by the Red Furies at the end of a spectacular match. The European champions will face Portugal in the final next Sunday.
The men led by De La Fuente took the lead on 22′ with Nico Williams, served by Oyarzabal, and doubled on 25′ with Merino, thanks to a splendid verticalization by Zubimendi. Deschamps’ team tried to fight back and did so with individual initiatives by Doué, Dembelé and Mbappé, but Unai Simon when called upon was most attentive.
The Spanish team was not able to react.
In the second half, Spain runs rampant: Yamal at 50′ earns a penalty (foul by Rabiot) and from 11 meters does not miss. At 55′ Pedri signs the poker after a splendid choral action of the Spaniards. The Blues make the score less bitter with Mbappé’s penalty, scoring after Porro’s foul, but at 68′ comes Spain’s 5-1, signed again by Barcelona champion Lamine Yamal on Pedro Porro’s assist. Maignan clumsy on the’occasion.
In the final comes France’s belated reaction: Cherki, all’debut with the Bleus, scores the 2-5 with a nice left-footed volley, then again Vivian in an attempt to intercept Barcola’s cross slips the ball into his own goal. At 94′ Kolo Muani even scores 4-5, served by Cherki: but it is too late: Spain will challenge Portugal in the Nations League final scheduled on June 8.
