National team: Ranieri ready to accept but without betraying Roma

Today Spalletti will sit for the’last time on the bench of the national team. His exoneration has already been certified. After the match with Moldova, he will give way to someone else. Barring any last-minute contingencies, that someone else should be Ranieri.
Invited by the vast majority of Azzurri fans, the current Friedkin adviser at Roma appears ready to answer yes to the (desperate) call of the FIGC. There’s a World Cup to conquer and the only solution that seems to convince everyone is called Claudio Ranieri.
A class of 1951, at the end of last season, he had made it known that he had reached the end of his extraordinary coaching career, but how can one turn his back on the national team? There’s nothing official yet but the feeling is that Ranieri has already made up his mind: he will accept the proposal and try to pull off yet another miracle in his career.
They will do it, however.
He will do so, however, without betraying Roma. More than likely, he will play a dual role: personal adviser to the Friedkins at Roma (the owners of the Giallorossi club would have already given their okay) and, indeed, coach of the national team. At this point there’s just a question of timing. If no problems arise on the horizon, Ranieri, after the Italy-Moldavia match, will become Italy’s new coach. The’only one who, really, seems to get everyone to agree.
