National team, after Claudio Ranieri’s comes another 'no'

Unless there are resounding twists and turns, Stefano Pioli will not be the next technical commissioner of the national team. The coach has a verbal agreement with Fiorentina and is willing to return to Florence after 6 years.
Stefano Pioli’s is the second refusal to the post of coach: on Tuesday morning Claudio Ranieri politely said ‘no’ to Gabriele Gravina’s proposal, choosing to devote himself fully to his new role at Roma.
“I thank President Gravina for the opportunity, a great honor, but I have reflected and decided to remain available to Roma in my new position totally. The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for whatever decision I had made regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone” Ranieri told ANSA.
The chances of seeing one between Gennaro Gattuso and Daniele De Rossi on the national team bench are thus growing: the two, despite having less experience than other names sounded, are liked by the Federation.
