Carlo Ancelotti could not have celebrated his 66th birthday any better. Indeed, on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Brazil coach scored his first victory with the greenoro national team, which qualified two days in advance for the 2026 World Cup.

The Seleçao only needed a goal from Vinicius at the end of the first half to knock out Paraguay: a low cross from the right by Matheus Cunha and the winning kick from the Real Madrid star, who ran to hug the Italian coach.

Thanks to this victory, Brazil overtook Paraguay itself in the standings, moving up to third place in the Conmebol Qualifying Group standings, and is the third national team to qualify for the World Cup after Argentina and Ecuador.

“It was a good match, we controlled it well in the first half ’Ancelotti said after the match. “We dropped in pace in the second, but overall we played a good test. We have to work. We have a year to do it well”.
